Tesla Choices: Cybertruck or Model 3

Tesla Choices: Cybertruck or Model 3

Tesla is well known for pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the automobile industry. To prove that point, they are offering up the Cybertruck, which is fully capable of doing everything trucks are supposed to do. It can tow trailers, seat 6 comfortably, and goes 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds! However, the Model 3 also has fast acceleration and is a long range vehicle. So which is the better choice?

Tesla’s Model 3 is a great choice as a fully electric, long range sedan that offers rapid acceleration, and can tow up to 2,000 pounds. Alternatively, the Cybertruck is best when looking for a vehicle that offers comfortable seating, has ample storage, and can tow up to 14,000 pounds.

The day and age of boring electric cars has passed thanks to Tesla. Both the Model 3 and Cybertruck offer amazing features that make owning an electric car a luxury experience. From bulletproof windows and autopilot on the Cybertruck, to the handling and performance of a sports car on the Model 3, both vehicles are worth the buy. Read on to learn all the specs of each model and decide which is best for you.

Cybertruck vs. Model 3

The Cybertruck and Model are outstanding vehicles in their own right, but they do have strengths and weaknesses. Depending on the type of vehicle you are looking for, the Cybertruck or Model 3 could be a good choice for you.

  • The Model 3 beats the Cybertruck when it comes to range
  • The Model 3 goes 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds whereas the Cybertruck goes 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds
  • The Cybertruck can tow up to 14,000 pounds, while the Model 3 can only tow up to 2000 pounds
  • The Cybertruck is equipped with more storage than the Model 3

As you can see, the Model 3 and Cybertruck have their own unique qualities that set them apart. If you are looking for a faster vehicle with better range, then the Model 3 is the best choice. However, if you are looking for an electric vehicle with plenty of storage and the ability to tow a lot of weight, then the Cybertruck is a better option.

The Model 3 and the Cybertruck both excel in specific areas, so your final decision will be based on what aspects of the vehicle you value more. To understand these vehicles better, keep reading to learn about Tesla as a company and important features that distinguish the Cybertruck from the Model 3.

Getting To Know Tesla

It is important to learn more about the Tesla Company before delving into further detail about the Model 3 and Cybertruck. Founded in July 2003, Tesla is dubbed an American company focused on building electric vehicles, as well as developing clean energy solutions. Tesla has developed 5 different models of electric vehicles to date and also offers home solar solutions with battery energy storage options.

The company is based in Palo Alto, however, it was founded in San Carlos, California. Furthermore, the company’s CEO Elon Musk began the process of moving the company from California to Texas in December 2020. The move was triggered by several factors, personal income taxes being one of them, as Musk is currently the richest man in the world with a networth of over $197 billion!

Another reason why Elon Musk decided to begin moving Tesla to Texas was to focus on building the company’s new Gigafactory where the Cybertruck and Tesla Semi will be produced. In addition to the factory, Musk will also be focusing on the company’s SpaceX Starship vehicle, which is being designed to carry people to space, Mars, to be specific.

The Model 3 By Tesla

Tesla’s Model 3 is a four-door sedan that is as safe as it is fast. The Model 3 has often been compared to BMW’s 3 Series because of its handling, power, and overall performance. The vehicle can reach sixty miles per hour in under 6 seconds and tops out at a speed of 140 mph. That is pretty impressive for a completely electric vehicle!

One of Tesla’s main goals was to create electric vehicles that did not compromise on style and performance. The Model 3 is the perfect example of that goal being realized. Not only does the Model 3 have rapid acceleration, it also boasts impressive handling that rivals with other sports cars. The sleek exterior of the Model 3 matches the stylish, yet minimalist interior design that features a 15-inch touchscreen.

The Model 3’s massive touchscreen is located in the middle of the vehicle’s dashboard. It controls every function of the car, from adjusting side view mirrors to activating the vehicle’s autopilot system. The only actual buttons in the vehicle are located on either side of the steering wheel. The buttons scroll through functions such as headlights and music volume.

Model 3 Mileage Per Range Option:

  • The Standard Range Plus has an electric range of 263 miles
  • The Model 3 Performance Range gets up to 315 miles per charge

  • The Long Range edition offers the most miles per charge at 353

The Tesla Model 3 has many other features besides speed, looks, and electric mileage range. After all, this machine was designed by the leading electric vehicle company in the world. If the Model 3 can hold its own against BMW, one of the longest standing names in sports car performance, it surely has much more to offer its buyers. It is now time to explore some of the additional features of Tesla’s Model 3.

Other Tesla Model 3 Features

In addition to its handling and performance, sleek exterior, and great mileage range, there is a lot more to learn about the Model 3. Beginning with the interior, the Model 3 can seat up to 5 passengers at a time. The front cabin boasts plenty of legroom, while the rear cabin is sufficient, although maybe a little tight. The backseat has two sets of LATCH connectors, which is great if you have small children in car seats.

As mentioned previously, the Model 3 is controlled via the 15-inch touchscreen in the center of the dashboard. This touchscreen functions as the vehicle’s infotainment center as well and controls your smartphone via Bluetooth connection and offers streaming services such as Spotify and Pandora. Absent from the Model 3, however, is the ability to connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Moving on, the Model 3 has a rear trunk with a capacity of 15 cubic feet and a “frunk” or front truck, for additional storage. This is made possible by the vehicle’s absence of an engine that you would find in a traditional car. The car also offers wireless charging for up to two smartphones at a time and dual-zone climate control. The Model 3 also has an impressive panoramic glass roof, making this electric car even sleeker.

Here are other notable features of the Model 3:

  • The Model 3 has a starting price tag of $39,900
  • The Model 3 has its own WiFi hotspot
  • Offers 4 USB charging ports
  • Has a stereo with 14 speakers and HD Radio
  • Has a twenty foot charging cord which makes charging at home easier
  • Can fully charge in under 12 hours with Tesla’s Wall Connector or in under an hour when using one of Tesla’s Supercharger stations
  • The Performance model can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and maxes out at 162 mph
  • The Model 3 has a 4 year/50,000 mile warranty while the battery is covered by an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty
  • Has a five star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

You now know many of the features the Model 3 has to offer. From its sports car-like handling and speed, to its sleek interior and exterior design, to its ample cargo storage capacity, Tesla’s Model 3 is a great choice if you are looking for a powerful electric sedan at a reasonable price point. It is now time to explore Tesla’s Cyber Truck and learn more about its capabilities and to see how it measures up against the Model 3.

Cybertruck by Tesla

Now that you know most there is to know about Tesla’s Model 3 sedan, it is time to explore the new Cybertruck and all that it has to offer. Boasting an innovative design, as all Tesla models do, the Cybertruck looks like something out of a futuristic movie or video game. The main reason why Tesla’s Cybertruck looks so different from other trucks on the market is because of its unibody design.

This means that rather than having a separate frame and body like traditional trucks have, the Cybertruck has one cohesive frame, which is actually a metal cage designed to protect passengers and hardware like batteries. The Cybertruck also looks different because it is made from the same cold-rolled stainless steel as Tesla’s Starship, making its design literally out of this world.

For the time being, Cybertruck will only be offered in its original stainless steel finish due to the fact that stainless steel cannot be painted. However, there is the possibility of different colors being offered in the future due to the fact that the color of steel can be altered by heat. Additionally, there is also talk of the option of vinyl-wrapping your Cybertruck to personalize it to your tastes.

There have been mixed reactions from consumers about Tesla’s new Cybertruck. The reactions are mostly centered around the overall look of the truck. A lot of people state that they do not like the futuristic look of the Cybertruck, while others are excited about its innovative design.

After all, the Cybertruck does offer quite a bit of storage capacity on top of its impressive towing capabilities. Either way, Tesla is well known for its “look.” Although the Cybertruck does not beat the Model 3 when it comes to range, there are still range options available if you are interested in maximizing the range of a Cybertruck. Here are the Cybertruck’s mileage per range options:

  • Tesla’s base Single Motor RWD version of Cybertruck features a range of 250 miles per full charge

  • The Dual-Motor version is all-wheel drive and features a mileage range of up to 300 miles per full charge

  • Lastly, the Tri-Motor version is All Wheel Drive and will get you up to 500 miles per full charge for a starting price tag of $69,900 and also goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds!

If you want to travel long distances with a Cybertruck, then consider these range options to get the most out of your Cybertruck.

Cybertruck Features

The Cybertruck is full of other awesome features aside from the fact that it can seat six people comfortably while going 0-60 mph in a mere 6.5 seconds. This model of Tesla was mainly built to appeal to the more adventurous spirits in the world who also want to lessen their impact on the environment. With the Cybertruck, you can still haul trailers, camp in the wild, and enjoy a more nomadic type of life, while doing it in style.

While the Cybertruck is not available immediately at the moment, Tesla promises delivery of the Cybertruck within 2021. That means that you can place your pre-order for a Cybertruck now and expect its delivery within the coming months. That is an amazing feat considering this is the first truck being offered by Tesla. And for a starting price tag of $39,900, the same as the Model 3, the Cybertruck is a steal!

As mentioned above, the Cybertruck comes with full towing capabilities. The Single Motor version of the Cybertruck can tow up to 7,500 pounds and the Dual Motor version can tow up to 10,000 pounds.

Coming in with the win, however, is the Tri-Motor Cybertruck with a towing capacity of up to 14,000 pounds. That is an amazing tow load considering that Cybertruck is one hundred percent electric operated.

Other Notable Features of the Cybertruck

The Cybertruck is one of the newest vehicles Tesla has released, so there are more features you should know about. Here are some other notable features of the Cybertruck:

  • The option of Vinyl-wrapping the Cybertruck may become available, allowing the buyer to customize their Cybertruck rather than having it in a plain, stainless-steel finish

  • The Cybertruck has a 6.5 foot long truck bed that is unobstructed from wheel wells, allowing for easier hauling of normal, household items

  • The truck bed also features a slide-out loading ramp that makes for easy loading of bicycles, motorcycles, and other such items

  • The Cybertruck also features a built in air compressor and tonneau cover to protect the truck bed when not in use

  • The Cybertruck also offers a (limited) version of bulletproof-ness, though it has not yet been completely perfected

  • It has an impressive 17-inch infotainment touchscreen from which the vehicle is controlled, which is even larger than the Model 3’s 15-inch touchscreen

  • Rather than having a glass, panoramic roof like the Model 3, the Cybertruck features a roof fashioned from transparent Armored Glass, giving it an extra edge over other ‘models’

  • The Triple-Motor version of Cybertruck can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds

The Cybertruck was initially unveiled in November 2019 in Los Angeles, California. During the unveiling, two “bullet-proof” windows were shattered when a metal ball was hurled at them. Since then, Tesla has continued to try to improve the sturdiness of their Cybertruck windows with some success.

The company’s CEO Elon Musk has also stated that climate control will be available in the truck’s vault, otherwise known as the truck bed. This climate control feature will be especially useful for occasions such as camping, making outdoor adventures a little more comfortable in the cold or hot temperatures.

While both the Tesla Model 3 and Cybertruck have undeniable features that make them unlike anything else on the market, the price tag is the main bargaining component. You can buy either base model for the same price, even though they are different machines in retrospect. Now comes the very difficult decision of deciding which is best suited for you and your current lifestyle.

Conclusion

All of the options have now been explored and you are well aware of both the capabilities of the Tesla Model 3, as well as the Cybertruck. Making the final decision will come down to features and capabilities. While the Tesla Model 3 comes in the style of a sedan and may appeal more to a family-oriented buyer, it still has many sleek features and innovative technology that will excite any tech-loving geek.

Additionally, the new Cybertruck that is being offered up by Tesla really holds its own against other trucks on the market today. From an amazing maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds, to seating six adults comfortably in its cabin, the Cybertruck is a force to be reckoned with. Whichever model you choose, you now know all you need to know to make your best decision!
