Cybertruck or New Bronco? Which Works Better for You?

The Tesla Cybertruck is about to enter mass production, but so is the new Ford Bronco. One is electric, while the other is gas powered. One is a massive truck the likes of which the world has never seen before, while the other is a newly refined version of one of the most iconic SUVs ever to hit the road. Which one is better for you?

In terms of ruggedness and payload capability, the Tesla Cybertruck reigns supreme. You will also find that the Cybertruck is equally as capable off road as the Ford Bronco. Add to that the fact the Cybertruck performs as well as any truck ever made, and the answer may very well be clear. 

Deciding which of these vehicles to purchase is ultimately a personal decision. You need to take into account what you need out of a truck or SUV and then shop for the one that fits those requirements accordingly. Continue reading to get a snapshot of both the Tesla Cybertruck and New Bronco to determine which is better suited for you. 

What Are the Similarities and Differences Among the Two?

Since the Ford Bronco is not an electric vehicle, one cannot compare its powertrain with that of the Cybertruck. However, everything is on the table. We can look at the power differences between the two, such as:

  • Payload
  • Comfort
  • Off-road capabilities
  • Much more

While one is an SUV and the other a full-size truck, there are still many similarities between the two. 

When it comes to towing ability, the Tesla Cyberturck is going to have superior payload capacity. Whereas many trucks cannot compete with higher end SUVs when it comes to off-road driving, the exception would appear to be the Tesla Cybertruck. Being equipped with an active air suspension means that the electric truck can more than hold its own. 

It might not look like it on the surface, but the Cybertruck is also built for speed and performance. It likely has the Bronco beat here as well. In one test, the Cybertruck was in a race with a Porsche 911 and won. It also successfully competed with a Ford F-150 in a tug of war competition. The Bronco does well, but it will come up second to Tesla’s truck. 

For its part, the new Bronco is built to go off-road. It will probably give you a more comfortable and smoother ride when traveling off road. It has a superior suspension that provides just the right balance of give and take when going over bumpy roads that can leave a lot to be desired.

With both vehicles being built for the most rugged of duties, it would be helpful to compare each of them to determine which one is best for you. Let’s begin with the characteristics of the new Ford Bronco. 

Taking a Look at the New Bronco

Ford lovers have been waiting a long time for this vehicle to come out. In many respects, it takes the iconic SUV back to its roots. It has a combination of traditional features mixed with modern technology. The result is a durable and reliable SUV that should last an owner with years of service when properly cared for. 

The Bronco is rugged enough to go over just about any terrain. If you want to get down and dirty, Ford is also making a First Edition Badlands model. They will only make 3,500 units of these, and they will be special looking. That alone will have it being compared with the unique look of the Cybertruck.

Performance Related Features

The new Ford Bronco is even more capable off road than previous models. This is thanks to its all-terrain tires on two of the trim levels. It also has two different types of transfer cases. This makes a ride over the roughest of roads seem like nothing. The New Ford Bronco also comes outfitted with both front and rear locking differentials.

To top everything off, the New Ford Bronco is designed with eight different pre-set drive modes. Drivers can choose between:

  • Normal
  • Eco
  • Sport
  • Slippery
  • Sand
  • Baja
  • Mud
  • Rock Crawl

These drive modes cover just about every type of terrain imaginable. No matter what type of situation a driver finds himself in, the Bronco will react accordingly. The Rock Crawl model even comes with a setting that will allow the vehicle to adjust how the Bronco handles in an off-road setting automatically. The driver no longer needs to make all of those split second decisions. 

The New Bronco is also a well designed SUV that has a Trail Turn Assist function. This is used to drag the rear brake effectively. The effect is to tighten the turning radius so that trails can be navigated much more easily. Some trim levels also have a drive mode that will hold the brakes automatically as you lift your foot off the accelerator.

The Interior of the New Bronco

The New Bronco comes as either a two or four door SUV. Both have an impressive amount of interior space. You will find that you can get 23.6 cubic feet of cargo space inside the two-door Bronco when all of the seats are in their upright position. Fold down the rear seats, and you will find the capacity expands to a respectable 58.4 cubic feet. 

If you compare the New Bronco to other similar SUVs such as the Wrangler, you will notice that the two-door version is longer and wider. This is why you will get so much more space in the Bronco. Of course, that still does not compare to the space you get in the Cybertruck, but more on that later. 

When you move up to the four-door New Bronco, you will end up with an even more practical SUV. There is 35.6 cubic feet of space when the seats are up, with that expanding to 77.6 cubic feet when the second row of seats is folded down. The New Bronco also has a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. 

What About the Cost?

With all of the features included with the New Bronco, you would not be alone assuming that it is priced on the high end of similar SUVs. In fact,  the base two-door model goes for under $30,000. That is quite a bit less expensive than the lowest-priced Tesla Cybertruck, so that is something to consider.

Safety Features

Since the New Bronco is a member of the Ford family, it gets the benefit of the Co-Pilot 360 suite. This is an entire array of active safety features that comes installed as a standard part of all Bronco models except for the base trim. What the Ford Co-Pilot 360, you will get the following system features:

  • Forward collision warning
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Automatic high beams
  • Adaptive cruise control

Each of these features is designed to assist the driver in staying safe while operating the Bronco. Combined with the cameras that provide multiple angle views outside the vehicle, it is quite amazing how this technology works. 

The Cybertruck also has similar features, although you will have to pay for them. Of course, that is something to consider when you are pricing the difference between the two vehicles. 

Available New Bronco Trims

If you like to have a choice when purchasing a new vehicle, the New Bronco will give you seven of them. Depending on your needs, you will have the following trip levels to choose from:

  • Base model
  • Blend model
  • Black Diamond model
  • Outer Banks model
  • Wildtrak model
  • Badlands
  • Low-Volume First Edition

Each of these trims comes with different features to appeal to various types of drivers. You will also have the option of purchasing a Sasquatch package with many of the trims. Among other features, this will outfit your Bronco with 35-inch tires. These are massive and will do their best to compete with the Cybertruck when going off road. 

The Technological Capabilities of the New Bronco

As one would expect, there is an entire host of technology built into the New Bronco. It is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. When you go to buy this SUV, you will get the choice of an 8-inch or 12-inch touchscreen that serves as your entertainment hub. 

The dash also has a 6.5-inch cluster display that highlights all of the important vehicle data you could possibly want to know. This can be customized to give you the information that you depend on the most. This technology does compare favorably with what is available on the Tesla Cybertruck. 

Now for the Tesla Cybertruck

Comparing the Cybertruck and the New Bronco is a bit difficult because the former has not quite been unveiled to the public as of yet. However, we do have a great deal of information that can guide readers toward deciding which of the two vehicles is better suited to them. 

A Summary of the Cybertruck

It is a futuristic looking pickup that will be entirely electric. It is so unique that there really is no other design out there quite like it. If you are the type of person who likes to stand out on the road and loves to be different, then there really is no comparison. The Cybertruck will beat the New Bronco in that area each and every time. 

One of the things that will stand out when you look at the Cybertruck is the fact that there are no rounded corners anywhere on the vehicle. Aerodynamic lines are also noticeably lacking. You will just see some sharp edges and a bunch of pronounced angles. However, all of this comes with the promise of up to 500 miles of battery range and a towing capacity of 14,000 pounds. 

The Cybertruck’s Engine and Performance Specifications

Again, we cannot compare the powertrain of the Cybertruck and the New Bronco, but we can talk about which one is more powerful. To talk about performance, we have to first mention that there are different variants of the Cybertruck to choose from. 

The one motor variant is a rear-wheel-drive-only system, but the two-motor and three-motor Cybertrucks come equipped with all-wheel drive. The more motors you choose in your Cybertruck, the better its overall performance will be. For example, the three-motor model is tested to go from zero to 60 in under three seconds.

While we do not yet know what type of horsepower the Cybertruck will have under its hood, it is assumed that there will be much more power with each additional motor that is added. It should also be noted that the more motors that are included with the truck, the more range it will have. This is going to be a major consideration and a benefit over the Bronco. 

The Towing Capacity on the Cybertruck

This is where Tesla’s Cybertruck will actually blow away the Ford Bronco. In fact, the Cybertruck bucks the notion that electric vehicles are hampered in terms of how much they tow behind them. The single motor Cybertruck is rumored to be able to tow roughly 7,500 pounds. 

If you need even more towing capacity, you can just upgrade to the two-motor Cybertruck. That will provide a nearly 10,000-pound capacity, while the three-motor model will increase substantially to 14,000 pounds. This is just about two times the Ford F-150, which has long been the standard-bearer when it comes to full-size trucks and towing capacity.

The Exterior is Out of This World

We say that the exterior of the Tesla Cybertruck is out of this world because it does appear to be something taken straight out of a science fiction movie. In addition to the sharp edges and the flat angles that are built into its design, the headlights are one giant strip along the front and rear. They are LED and stand out. This will get you noticed on the road.

Continuing on with the exterior design, you will notice that the windows are fashioned in a geometric shape and the wheel fenders are quite chunky. The prototype does not even contain any side mirrors, so we need to wait and see if that design feature makes its way into the final production model. 

There is some concern that the Cybertruck may not be as safe as it should be. This is most notably due to the fact that it does not have a crumple zone. Most vehicles in production today have such a zone in order to absorb the energy transfer that takes place during a collision. The light strip and the lack of side mirrors currently do not meet state and federal laws either. 

That being said, the final version of the Cybertruck will almost certainly address these concerns. The exoskeleton skin exterior is also composed of ultra-hard steel that has been cold-pressed 30 times. It is virtually impenetrable. The glass is bulletproof, and the Cybertruck is believed to very difficult to roll over. These are all advantages over the New Bronco. 

What About the Interior?

One of the benefits of the New Bronco is how comfortable and roomy the interior is. How does the Tesla Cybertruck compare to that? If you are looking for a truck that is roomy and provides you with the creature comforts of home, you are probably going to be disappointed with the Cybertruck. 

Initial appearances are that this is designed more of a work truck than a family vehicle. It is a bit bare inside, aside from the massive array of technology that Tesla is known for. You will notice a massive 17-inch display screen that serves as the hub of everything tech related, but that is about it. 

The seats do not even appear to be that comfortable. That being said, the interior is quite roomy. That is going to be good if you need to carry a lot of personal items or people around. You can carry six adults in the Tesla Cybertruck, although they will probably not be as comfortable as in the New Bronco. 

One rather impressive thing is the report 100 cubic feet that you get of exterior storage with the Cybertruck. This is courtesy of a truck bed that is 6.4 feet long. It is so big that many are referring to it as a cargo bay. It comes equipped with:

  • Locking storage units
  • A vault
  • A trunk
  • Sailing pillars

If you routinely carry a lot of people and cargo, then the Cybertruck is going to suit you over the New Bronco. Just keep in mind that the comfort level is not going to be there, which can be concerning on long road trips. 

Wrap-Up 

If you are looking for a tough vehicle that is convenient and a lot of fun to drive, you will find two good choices in the New Bronco and Tesla Cybertruck. They both have their unique advantages while also having some inherent limitations as well. At the end of the day, you will want to consider what you need out of a vehicle and then make your choice.
